FAQ'S

What do you mean by 'screen accurate' glove replicas?

Screen accurate means that the designs of the gloves are worked to match as closely as possible to what you see on your screen. Each of our BoilerGloves are built using -rare- close up reference shots from the original screen used hero gloves!! While retaining as much accuracy as possible, each glove is its own work of art as small details are nearly impossible to replicate perfectly every time. The reason for this is because our gloves are hand cut and hand made, NOT mass produced or machined. Just like The Springwood Slasher himself! The only exceptions to this are the blades, not only are they too thick not to be laser cut but they are slightly over sized. Meticulous attention to detail has been paid to every aspect of your glove to insure that you WILL recognize and love it!

What are your gloves made of?

Between friends and acquaintances in the prop/SPFX and replica glove world, our research is fairly complete when it comes to the materials used in the original films. The company that originally supplied the gloves for most of the screen used hero props, no longer carry those exact model styles anymore. But! We have tracked down comparative companies who carry this model design style and it only requires slight adjustments to make it look like the actual screen used gloves! The rest of the materials that go into our BoilerGloves are easily obtainable. The gloves we use are a large fit full grain cowhide leather ball and tape glove. These are dyed, aged and cut to match the hero gloves used in the films. The Versus glove comes with a clute cut leather glove. The backplates are made of very sturdy medium hard .032"/20 gauge brass sheet, except The Versus Glove which features a thick .032" copper backplate. The Backplates are aged and weathered with solder spills, where applicable, and bent into their desired shapes. The Fingers are made of .025"/22 gauge copper sheet, again excepting The Versus Glove with its matching .032" copper. The fingers are bent into shape, aged and riveted together to the backplate. Our Gloves do feature one intentional screen inaccuracy, -the blades. We use thick Stainless Steel blades that reach 7" from base to tip with about a 5-6" clearance from the actual finger housing. Excepting the Final Dream BoilerGlove, with its screen accurate "butterknivey" blades. We do this not only because we love the way it looks, but because it makes our gloves stand out among the competition! We then solder the blades to the fingertip housings and the whole exoskeleton is treated to another aging process before being riveted to it's leather glove and finished.

12/09 UPDATE: screen accurate sized and shape blades coming soon -to all- glove models!

How sturdy are these gloves?

Our BoilerGloves are very hefty and durable. To give an example, the way we test our gloves durability after it's completion is to drop it, blades first, into a block of wood from 5 feet. If it hits or sticks without breaking, we go on to the second test, thick cardboard. If the glove can survive repeated droppings and can then rip through the thick cardboard, we consider it good to go. A bad solder hold breaks quickly. Your BoilerGlove should hold up fine for 15-20 years and longer, as long as the leather glove hasn't been over worn. I still have the first glove I've ever made and it's held up fine for 15 years... This before I even knew what I was doing! These gloves are perfect for costume and display and look creepily real in any light at any angle. You will enjoy it for years to come!

Are the glove's blades sharp?

No! The blades on our BoilerGloves are not sharpened. They are just made to look sharp. Sorry no, WE WILL NOT SHARPEN THEM! Some models do come down to a sharp point and need to be minded around others. Although these ARE SAFE prop replicas, the materials used can still accidentally harm someone if your not careful.

How long does it take to build My Glove once I've ordered?

In most cases it takes about 3 - 7 days to make a glove depending upon order flow. You will receive a tentative schedule for your gloves completion after ordering.  We will never allow ourselves to become more than three weeks behind on our glove orders before we cancel our moneyorder/paypal payment options from our site. This is only until we get orders caught up! It's also a lil' extra insurance that you will receive your glove by paypal's 45 day window of payment dispute. But, No Worries, we don't plan on going anywhere and Your Glove truly is Very Important to us and will be completed ASAP with no cut corners. At that time we will offer a waiting list for those serious collectors in our payment section for a first come first serve chance at the next batch of gloves. That way we wont be like other glovemakers, leaving a lot of glovelovers with months of wondering if we have just taken their money and run or if their glove is actually making its way to them, just at a snails pace. The minimum turnaround time it should take to get the glove to you is around one to two weeks. Hopefully we have this set up so that you will never have to wait more than a month to receive your glove! You will be notified when payment is received along with your tentative schedule, when we start build on your glove, and when your glove is ready to ship. Also with any applicable tracking numbers or other shipping information at that time.

Can I come over and watch you guys make My Glove?

UHmmm... I'm not sure the Boiler Room can hold that many people. Not unless we throw a few in the Furnace! Actually you can... sorta. If you would like, we can throw -teaser- pix of your build process up on our BoilerBlog's Facebook and Twitter Badges! Just let us know if you wanna watch your Dream Child's Birth!

How do I order a glove? How much are they?

Just click on the ORDER link and it will guide you through the ordering process!  We currently accept paypal and money orders for our gloves. Please feel free to contact us after ordering for the time estimation of your build, any requests, questions, or comments! We do our best to reply to -all- inquiries.

What does it cost to ship My Glove?

Not very much! If you live within the continental U.S., then your discounted shipping cost is 10$. If you live outside the continental U.S. then shipping is only 30$ per glove. The international shipping price reflects an automatic twenty dollar discount on your shipping. As international shipping has gotten more expensive, instead of passing the cost along to you, were covering a portion of it to keep our prices affordable to our friends and neighbors overseas. There is a shipping discount for multiple orders! - please contact us  first for info.

What happens if My Glove is damaged during regular use?

While we've only ever had one glove come back for repair, (and not for what you might expect!) sometimes stuff happens. Our gloves are very sturdy and we are so confident in them that we offer free repairs for normal wears and tears!  All we require for this guarantee is 10$ to cover shipping the glove back to you. 30$ international. Free repairs cover basic damage to the exoskeleton and the blades. If there is significant damage from misuse, its best to just buy a new glove. When damage repair is the same for us as having to build a whole new glove, then we have to charge accordingly. (if you just need it attached to a new leather, whether our gloves or another glove makers work, contact us for details.) If a rivet just 'pops' out, its easy to take a pair of pliers and squeeze it back in place. Also brass/nickel rivets are an easy find at hardware and hobby stores and are typically a much cheaper route than our shipping charges. Please contact us to see whether its something minor we can help you fix yourself or not and well get back to you with how to go about getting your glove repaired. We want you to be as excited about owning your glove as we are making it!

Do you guys do custom glovework?

Yes! If you need a small, medium or an extra large glove fitting, or if you want them extremely aged or polished to a shine, just place your order and drop us a line!  Please contact us first before ordering for special requests. These features are at no extra cost unless you have a truly unique Freddy Glove design in mind. We also have discounts for serious collectors of the whole set and for retailers looking to work with us. Just contact us with your ideas and well take a look at what it would take to make your nightmares come true!

Who are you guys anyways?

We three are the ancient dream demons. Eternally roaming the underworld for the most vile and evil of souls. Weve found you! We know what you want. You want IT ALL! Of coarse you do. So open up... and you shall be... forever!
